ไทยได้รับเลือกเป็นเจ้าภาพงานประชุมนานาชาติขนาดใหญ่อย่างต่อเนื่อง ล่าสุดสมาคมการประชุมนานาชาติ (International Congress and Convention Association – ICCA) เลือกไทยเป็นเจ้าภาพจัดงาน ICCA Congress 2023 โดยกรุงเทพฯได้รับเลือกเป็นเมืองเจ้าภาพ แสดงศักยภาพ “มหานครแห่งเอเชีย” ต้อนรับสมาชิก ICCA กว่า 100 ประเทศจากทั่วโลก ทีเส็บเตรียมใช้เวทีนี้ต่อยอดดึงงานประชุมนานาชาติเข้าประเทศ ดึงผู้บริหารการประชุมต่างชาติจัดงานในไทย พร้อมเร่งพัฒนาเมืองไมซ์ทั่วประเทศให้พร้อมรองรับการประชุมนานาชาติในอนาคต
นายจิรุตถ์ อิศรางกูร ณ อยุธยา ผู้อำนวยการสำนักงานส่งเสริมการจัดประชุมและนิทรรศการ (องค์การมหาชน) หรือ ทีเส็บ เปิดเผยว่า การได้เป็นเจ้าภาพจัดงานประชุม ICCA Congress 2023 ที่กรุงเทพในปีพ.ศ. 2566 ซึ่งเป็นการประชุมสามัญประจำปีของ สมาคมการประชุมนานาชาติ (International Congress and Convention Association) หรือ ICCA องค์กรหลักด้านการประชุมนานาชาติที่มีสมาชิกกว่า 1,000 หน่วยงานทั้งภาครัฐและเอกชนจากกว่า 100 ประเทศทั่วโลก ถือเป็นโอกาสสำคัญและมีความหมายมากต่อประเทศไทยในการขับเคลื่อนอุตสาหกรรมการจัดประชุมสู่อนาคต อีกทั้งยังสอดคล้องกับยุทธศาสตร์การพัฒนาของกรุงเทพมหานคร ระยะ 20 ปี (พ.ศ. 2556-2575) ให้เป็น “มหานครแห่งเอเชีย” ซึ่งจะเป็นเวทีแสดงศักยภาพของกรุงเทพในฐานะมหานครปลอดภัย มหานครสีเขียว มหานครแห่งเศรษฐกิจและการเรียนรู้ อีกด้วย
“การจัดงานประชุมนี้ ผลที่ได้ทางเศรษฐกิจนอกจากด้านรายได้ และการขยายโอกาสทางธุรกิจแล้ว ยังสามารถทำให้ประเทศไทยเป็นที่รู้จักมากขึ้นในวงกว้างระดับนานาชาติจากการประชาสัมพันธ์ผ่านสื่อทั้งในและต่างประเทศตลอดระยะเวลา 1 ปี ตั้งแต่วันที่ประกาศรายชื่อประเทศเจ้าภาพจัดงานประชุมซึ่งช่วยสร้างการรับรู้ในตลาดไมซ์คิดเป็นมูลค่ากว่า 300 ล้านบาท”
ICCA Congress 2023 กำหนดจัดขึ้นที่กรุงเทพ ระหว่างวันที่ 12-15 พฤศจิกายน 2566 คาดว่าจะมีผู้ร่วมประชุมชาวต่างชาติกว่า 1,000 คน และผู้ร่วมงานชาวไทย ประมาณ 200 คน สร้างรายได้เข้าประเทศและก่อให้เกิดการกระตุ้นเศรษฐกิจกว่า 105 ล้านบาท เกิดผลประโยชน์จากการสร้างมูลค่าเพิ่มให้แก่เศรษฐกิจในประเทศประมาณ 59 ล้านบาท และจะเกิดการจ้างงานประมาณ 73 อัตรา ตลอดจนสร้างรายได้จากภาษีที่รัฐบาลเรียกเก็บโดยประมาณจากค่าใช้จ่ายที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการจัดงานประชุม ประมาณ 3.62 ล้านบาท
ผู้อำนวยการทีเส็บ กล่าวต่อไปว่า การเป็นเจ้าภาพจัดงานประชุมนี้ ถือเป็นโอกาสทางธุรกิจของประเทศไทยอย่างมาก การแลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลระหว่างช่วงการประชุม ICCA Business Exchange ซึ่งเป็นข้อมูลสำคัญในการประมูลสิทธิ์การจัดงาน ขั้นตอนการคัดเลือก และงบประมาณ สามารถสร้างโอกาสให้ประเทศไทยชนะการประมูลสิทธิ์เป็นเจ้าภาพจัดงานประชุมต่าง ๆ ในอนาคตได้ นอกจากนี้ยังมีโอกาสได้ทำความรู้จัก สร้างความสัมพันธ์กับผู้บริหารของสมาคมนานาชาติที่จะได้รับเชิญมาร่วมงานดังกล่าว กว่า 30 คน จากโอกาสที่เกิดขึ้นนี้คาดการณ์ว่าประเทศไทยจะได้รับความสนใจจากกลุ่มเป้าหมายเข้ามาจัดงาน จำนวนกว่า 20 งาน
พร้อมกันนั้น ทีเส็บจะใช้โอกาสนี้ เร่งพัฒนาเมืองไมซ์ โดยจะเชิญผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดที่เป็นเมืองไมซ์ เข้าร่วมงาน เพื่อให้รับทราบและแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ความเข้าใจกับผู้เชี่ยวชาญในอุตสาหกรรมการจัดประชุมวิชาการนานาชาติจากต่างประเทศ นำไปสู่การพัฒนาเมืองเพื่อเพิ่มความสามารถในการแข่งขัน ยกระดับมาตรฐานด้านไมซ์สู่สากลสำหรับรองรับการประชุมนานาชาติ
ทีเส็บมีเป้าหมายที่จะเชิญสมาคมในประเทศอย่างน้อยอีก 20 สมาคม เข้าร่วมงาน ICCA Congress FOC และการประชุม Incredible Impacts Program ที่นำเสนอให้เห็นผลกระทบเชิงบวกของงานประชุมนานาชาติต่อสังคม เพื่อให้เกิดความรู้ความเข้าใจและตระหนักถึงคุณค่าของการประชุมวิชาการนานาชาติ ก่อให้เกิดแรงบันดาลใจในการสร้างสรรค์งานประชุมในอนาคต อีกทั้งยังเป็นโอกาสในการทำความรู้จักแลกเปลี่ยนมุมมองความคิดกับสมาคมนานาชาติอย่างน้อย 30 สมาคมจากทั่วโลก
“ปี 2566 จะเป็นปีแห่งการพลิกฟื้นเศรษฐกิจไทย ให้กลับมามีปฏิสัมพันธ์แนบแน่นของประชาคมโลกอีกครั้ง และร่วมกำหนดวิสัยทัศน์แห่งอนาคตในมิติต่าง ๆ ทั้งเศรษฐกิจ สังคม และสิ่งแวดล้อม ร่วมกับประชาคมโลก และ ICCA ด้วย” นายจิรุตถ์ กล่าวสรุป

Thai MICE industry continues its steam as Thailand has been chosen as a host of ICCA Congress 2023, enhancing the country’s opportunities to win more international conventions.
19 April 2022: Thailand has continued to be selected as the host of international large-scale conferences. Recently, the International Congress and Convention Association – ICCA has selected Thailand as the host of ICCA Congress 2023. Having been chosen as the host city, Bangkok clearly demonstrates the potential as the “metropolitan city of Asia” for its capabilities to welcome ICCA members from over 100 countries worldwide. TCEB has prepared to use the platform in expanding the opportunity by attracting more international conferences into Thailand, as well as enticing executives of overseas conference to select Thailand for their events. In the meantime, TCEB will hasten to expedite MICE cities nationwide to be able to serve international conferences in the future.
Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, President of Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB, disclosed that the hosting of ICCA Congress 2023 in Bangkok in 2023, which is the annual general meeting of International Congress and Convention Association or ICCA, is considered a distinguished opportunity and is highly meaningful to Thailand in terms of expediting MICE industry for the future, as ICCA is a forefront association in international convention with members from more than 1,000 organisations representing public and private agencies in over 100 countries worldwide. Furthermore, the endeavour is responsive to the 20-year Strategic Development Plan of Bangkok (2013-2032), which has projected to transform Bangkok into the “metropolitan of Asia”. Therefore, the happening will serve as the stage that showcases the potential of Bangkok as a safe metropolitan, green metropolitan, and economy and learning metropolitan.
“Hosting ICCA Congress will generate not only economic results in revenue and business opportunities but also Thailand’s more international recognition through global publicity on domestic and international media during a one-year period when the host country’s name is announced and mentioned. This can create the awareness of Thailand across global MICE markets, which is worth more than 300 million baht in value.”
ICCA Congress 2023 will be running from 12-15 November 2023 in Bangkok. It is expected that the number of foreign delegates will be over 1,000 and 200 Thai delegates. Holding the congress will generate an estimated 105 million baht in revenue which can help stimulate the economy. The value added to the economy is worth 59 million baht and 73 jobs will be created, while tax revenue that the government will collect from the expenditure related to the holding of the congress is valued at 3.62 million baht.
President of TCEB further said that the hosting of this convention is considered a significant business opportunity for Thailand. The exchange of information taking place during the ICCA Business Exchange, which includes important information on bidding, selection criteria and budget, can provide opportunities to Thailand in winning upcoming event bids. Moreover, TCEB will have a chance to know and build relationship with over 30 executives of international associations who will be invited to join the session. It is estimated that the opportunity will enable Thailand to attract target leads to consider Thailand as their MICE destination in the number of over 20 events.
Simultaneously, TCEB will use this opportunity to expedite the enhancement of MICE Cities. Governors of MICE City provinces will be invited to learn and exchange knowledge and experiences with international experts from academic convention industry, which will lead to the improvement of cities and acceleration of competitive advantages. All of which can promote Thailand’s MICE towards international standards to serve and hold international conventions.
TCEB aims to invite at least 20 domestic associations to join the ICCA Congress FOC and the Incredible Impacts Programme meeting, which portray positive impacts that international convention has towards the society, in regard to build knowledge and understanding, as well as to enhance recognition in the value of international academic convention that would inspire new creations of convention in the future. Moreover, these are also the opportunity to know and exchange perspectives with at least 30 international associations from across the globe.
