นพ. วิทย์ วราวิทย์ หัวหน้าหน่วย Body Imaging แผนกรังสีวิทยา, รังสีแพทย์ โรงพยาบาลบำรุงราษฎร์ ได้เน้นย้ำถึงประโยชน์ที่สำคัญของเทคโนโลยีใหม่นี้สำหรับรังสีแพทย์และผู้ป่วยว่า “การตรวจวินิจฉัยด้วยเครื่องเอกซเรย์คอมพิวเตอร์ Photon-counting ทำให้ภาพที่มีความละเอียดสูงขึ้น ทั้งสัญญาณรบกวนที่ลดลง ช่วยให้ตรวจพบโรคได้เร็วขึ้นและแม่นยำยิ่งขึ้น นอกจากนี้ยังช่วยลดการได้รับรังสี ทำให้การสแกนด้วยเครื่อง CT ปลอดภัยขึ้น ซึ่งจะเอื้อประโยชน์อย่างมากในกลุ่มเสี่ยงหรือผู้ป่วยที่มีความจำเป็นต้องตรวจคัดกรองบ่อยครั้ง เช่น มะเร็งปอด ภาวะหลอดเลือดหัวใจตีบตัน โรคหลอดเลือดโป่งพอง รวมถึงกลุ่มผู้ป่วยเด็ก นับเป็นความก้าวหน้าครั้งสำคัญที่ช่วยเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพในการวินิจฉัยโรค”
