ธนาคารไทยพาณิชย์ ประกาศแต่งตั้ง ดร. สมประวิณ มันประเสริฐ ดำรงตำแหน่ง รองผู้จัดการใหญ่ ประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหารกลุ่มงาน Economic Intelligence Center (EIC) โดยมีผลตั้งแต่วันที่ 18 เมษายน 2565 เป็นต้นไป
ดร. สมประวิณ มันประเสริฐ จะเข้ามารับหน้าที่เป็นผู้นำทัพในการบริหารภาพรวมของศูนย์วิจัยเศรษฐกิจและธุรกิจ Economic Intelligence Center (EIC) ซึ่งเป็นหน่วยงานกลยุทธ์ของธนาคารไทยพาณิชย์ในการสร้างงานวิจัยเศรษฐกิจมหภาคเชิงลึกและงานวิเคราะห์ผลกระทบในภาคอุตสาหกรรม อันเป็นประโยชน์ต่อบริษัทในกลุ่มธนาคาร ลูกค้า สังคม และประเทศชาติโดยรวม ด้วยประสบการณ์และความเชี่ยวชาญในการบริหารงานวิจัยของ ดร. สมประวิณ มันประเสริฐ จะเป็นพลังขับเคลื่อนให้ศูนย์วิจัยเศรษฐกิจและธุรกิจ Economic Intelligence Center (EIC) สามารถสนับสนุนแผนยุทธศาสตร์ของธนาคารไทยพาณิชย์ ในการเป็นธนาคารที่ดียิ่งขึ้น หรือ To Be A Better Bank ได้อย่างแข็งแกร่ง และสร้างการเติบโตอย่างยั่งยืนให้กับธนาคารไทยพาณิชย์ต่อไป
ดร.สมประวิณ ให้มุมมองเกี่ยวกับแนวทางการบริหารศูนย์วิจัยเศรษฐกิจและธุรกิจว่า “สังคมไทยกำลังเผชิญความท้าทายสำคัญ 2 ประการด้วยกัน โดยประการแรก ทั้งวิกฤตโควิด 19 และสงครามระหว่างรัสเซีย-ยูเครน ทำให้เราเห็นว่า เรากำลังเผชิญกับโลกที่ ‘มีความไม่แน่นอนสูง’ และประการที่สอง กระแส Disruption ครั้งใหญ่ของโลกที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นได้ก่อให้เกิด ‘ระเบียบโลกใหม่’ ที่ส่งผลต่อทั้งวิถีทางเศรษฐกิจและสังคม ทั้งความไม่แน่นอนและการเปลี่ยนแปลงเชิงโครงสร้างดังกล่าวจะนำมาซึ่ง ‘ความไม่รู้’ ว่าอะไรจะเกิดขึ้นและไม่รู้ว่าเราควรจะทำตัวอย่างไร ดังนั้น บทบาทสำคัญของศูนย์วิจัยเศรษฐกิจและธุรกิจ ธนาคารไทยพาณิชย์ คือการสร้างงานวิจัยที่เป็นประโยชน์ ด้วยการให้ข้อมูลข่าวสารที่ลึกและครบถ้วน รวมถึงการเชื่อมโยงตรรกะและการวิเคราะห์เพื่อทำให้เห็นว่าผลลัพธ์จะเป็นอย่างไรภายใต้เงื่อนไขปัจจัยแวดล้อมที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไป มุ่งเน้นการสร้างงานวิจัยที่มีคุณภาพ เพื่อสร้างความรู้ให้กับกลุ่มไทยพาณิชย์ ลูกค้าและสังคมโดยรวม สนับสนุนข้อมูลเชิงลึกแก่ผู้บริหารเพื่อการตัดสินใจอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ อันจะมีส่วนช่วยสร้างผลลัพธ์อย่างยั่งยืนให้แก่ระบบนิเวศทางธุรกิจและทางสังคมต่อไป”
ก่อนร่วมงานกับธนาคารไทยพาณิชย์ ดร. สมประวิณ ดำรงตำแหน่งหัวหน้าทีมวิจัยเศรษฐกิจ (Chief Economist) ผู้ช่วยกรรมการผู้จัดการใหญ่ ผู้บริหารสายงานวิจัย ธนาคารกรุงศรีอยุธยา จำกัด (มหาชน) และเคยดำรงตำแหน่งรองคณบดีและรองศาสตราจารย์ประจำคณะเศรษฐศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย มีประสบการณ์ทำงานวิจัยให้กับหน่วยงานภาครัฐ เช่น สำนักงานคณะกรรมการพัฒนาการเศรษฐกิจและสังคมแห่งชาติ สำนักงบประมาณ และกระทรวงพาณิชย์ เป็นต้น รวมทั้งเป็นผู้บรรยายให้ความรู้ในงานสัมมนาแก่สาธารณชนและองค์กรภายนอกทั้งในและต่างประเทศอย่างต่อเนื่อง
ดร.สมประวิณ จบการศึกษาในระดับปริญญาตรีจากคณะเศรษฐศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ระดับปริญญาโทจาก University of Warwick สหราชอาณาจักร และระดับปริญญาเอกจาก University of Maryland at College Park สหรัฐอเมริกา
Dr. Somprawin Manprasert named SCB Economic Intelligence Center (EIC) Chief Economist
Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) has announced the appointment of Dr. Somprawin Manprasert as First Executive Vice President and Chief Economist of the Economic Intelligence Center (EIC), effective 18 April 2022.
Dr. Somprawin Manprasert will assume leadership of the Economic and Business Research Center (EIC), SCB’s strategic unit charged with providing in-depth macroeconomic research and industrial impact analysis that benefits the financial group’s companies, customers, society, and the nation as a whole. Dr. Somprawin’s experience and expertise in research management will serve as the driving force behind the Economic Intelligence Center’s (EIC) mission to support Siam Commercial Bank’s strategic plan “To Be a Better Bank” and to further sustain sustainable growth.
Dr. Somprawin stated in accepting the new position that “Thai society is confronted by two significant challenges. To begin, both the COVID-19 crisis and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine heighten our sense of insecurity. Second, the emerging global disruption is resulting in the emergence of a ‘New World Order,’ which is affecting both economic and social trajectories. Such uncertainties and structural changes will result in a state of ‘cluelessness’ regarding what will happen and how we should respond. SCB’s mission is to conduct useful research by providing comprehensive data, integrating logic and analytics, and forecasting outcomes under changing environmental conditions. It will prioritize conducting high-quality research in order to generate knowledge for SCB Group customers and society at large, as well as to provide executives with insights for effective decision-making. This will contribute to the long-term viability of business and social ecosystems.”
Dr. Somprawin previously served as Chief Economist and Executive Vice President of the Bank of Ayudhya’s Research Team and as Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Economics. He has conducted research for government agencies such as the National Economic and Social Development Board, the Budget Bureau, and the Ministry of Commerce, among others, and has served as a speaker at seminars for the general public and organizations on a national and international level.
Dr. Somprawin earned a bachelor’s degree from Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Economics, a master’s degree from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom, and a doctorate degree from the University of Maryland at College Park in the United States of America.
